The city bride loves keeping up the trends, from the most current runway and homeware trends to the latest must-watch Netflix series. When it comes to her big day, she wants to show her guests a good time without a lot of the tradition that often comes with weddings – and that goes for her bridal look too. She’ll be after something cool, versatile and easy to wear, maybe even with a second outfit for the evening reception.
Wedding dresses with halter-necks are big news in 2019 so we think city brides would love the Diana embellished gown – it’ stylish, glamorous and comes with a dramatic side split. As the party gets started, she’ll slip into something like the limited-edition Chrissy sequin jumpsuit (how good will that look under the mirror ball?), joined by all her bridesmaids who will eschew tradition in favour of the multi-way Taylor jumpsuit.
Venue is super-important for city brides who’ll be seeking something central, late night, casual and cool – warehouses, art galleries and restaurants are all on the table for her! Somewhere that has a fun, laid-back atmosphere but still has scope for making it her own. The headcount would be small, as with a lot of modern weddings now, to keep the emphasis on having an amazing time with your nearest and dearest. We also predict that city brides will embrace the neon trend in full – just imagine exchanging vows in an industrial venue, right in front of a balloon arch installation with names written in neon script.
The grazing station is becoming increasingly popular with city brides, with incredibly-styled tables filled to the brim with delicious treats including artisan breads, olives, fruits, pretzels and nuts. It’s all about the look with this style of dining, as well as offering an alternative to classic canapes when it rolls round to cocktail hour. We’re also seeing city brides lean more towards meat-free and ethically-sourced ingredients for their wedding menu. Not only is it budget-friendly but kinder to the environment too.
For the evening entertainment, the city bride and her partner will be looking at more alternative options trending for this year – think tarot card readers and temporary tattoo stations. We’re also seeing a lot of couples opt for wedding wind-downs after the main band or DJ set by hiring a piano player and singer, and gathering around with whoever is still standing at the end of the night for a singalong to cap of the day’s events – we bet the city bride will be the first on the mic!
