Children’s Easter Crafts with Chalk Kids

Easter is fast approaching, and now is the perfect time to start thinking about fun, kid-friendly craft projects for the school holidays. To get things off to a suitably spring-like start, we’ve teamed up with Chalk Kids to show you how to create these cracking (and super-simple!) DIY Easter crafts with the little ones.

How To Make DIY Easter Cards

Simply follow our quick and easy step-by-step guide, and create perfectly personalised, handmade cards that will make beautiful keepsakes for family and friends.

You will need:

– A pack of coloured card – we think colours like yellow, pink, blue and white work best!
– 10 plain brown cards and envelopes
– Stamp set
– Black ink
– Cotton balls
– Glue
– Scissors
– Easter felt décor (optional)

 Instructions:

Start off by drawing out an outline of a rabbit, chick or egg onto some coloured card with a pencil. Make sure your design fills around two thirds of the brown card, leaving enough space for your stamps.

Cut out your sketch with scissors and glue it onto the card.

Next, stamp your chosen message down onto the card. This part can get a little messy, so be sure to roll up your sleeves and have a tablecloth handy. Don’t worry if they’re not perfect – these cards are about having fun!

Now it’s time to add some finishing touches – think fluffy cotton balls for bunny tails, and extra cut-out card or felt for the Easter eggs and chicks. Pass them over to the kids for them to glue down.

Finally write a message inside, pop them into an envelope and you’re all done!

Parental supervision is recommended at all times.

How To Make Easter Egg Decorations

This fun, creative and super-simple Easter egg decorations that will add a burst of spring sunshine to any home. The best bit about this DIY project is that it won’t break the bank – all you need is a large carton of eggs and flowers from your local supermarket, plus a few craft supplies. All that’s left to do now is to enlist a few little helpers – and you’re ready to get started.

You will need:

– Carton of 10 eggs, plus six spare eggs (just in case!)
– Spring flowers – we picked up some Genista, Tete-a-`tete Daffodils, Stallion Chrysanthemum, Lysianthus and a bit of Eucalyptus

– Paint
– Paintbrush
– Toy Easter chicks (optional)

Instructions:

This DIY can be started a few days in advance, allowing you to use up your eggs throughout the week ready to craft with over the weekend. Be careful when breaking them that you keep the bottom of the shell intact – which is why we’ve recommended to have a few spare, just in case! Store the shells back in the egg carton to keep them safe.

Once you have your 10 broken shells, it’s time to paint them in your favourite colours – each one will need two or three coats. Remember – they don’t have to be perfect. For those with toddlers, we recommend that parents or guardians take over this part. Allow the shells to dry overnight.

Place your eggs back into the carton and trim the egg carton carefully with scissors. Next, set up a table with the eggs, flowers and any other Easter décor items.

Get a small jug and pour a tiny amount of water into the bottom of the egg shells.

Now it’s time to add your flowers! Simply cut the flowers with around 3/4 cm left of stem. Let the kids place them into the egg shells, the more flowers that are added the better it looks! Finally, add in an Easter chick or two and you’re done.

Parental supervision is recommended at all times.
