6 Wedding Décor Essentials To Tick Off Your List

Make your big day feel extra-special with the six wedding décor essentials that every bride needs to tick off her to-do list, courtesy of the experts at Revelry Events, winner of the London Wedding Planner of the Year, 2017.

1. Sort out the signage

If your wedding venue is out in the sticks or perhaps just a little bit hidden, setting up a few signs to let your guests know they are in the right place will avoid a lot of confusion (and phone calls). Similarly, if things are a little bit spread around in your venue, make sure you have a few directional signs to let guests know what’s happening where – or even just where the toilets are. Giving guests an idea of where they should be going will prove very helpful.

2. Show off the seating plan

Once you’ve perfected the wedding seating plan, think about how you’re going to display it to your guests. If it’s a mirror or a printed plan, ask your venue if they have an easel or another way of presenting it on the big day. If you want to hang it up, make you’ve ordered everything that you need to do so.

3. Remember the confetti

Confetti – always a last-minute thing! Lots of couples don’t think much of it, thinking they’ll be able to order it online or pick it up from the supermarket on the way to the wedding. However, in many cases, venues require bio-degradable confetti or even dried petals because of their rules, while some historical spots will only allow white petals in case the colour damages the floors! That’s why it’s important to know what sort of confetti you need, and leave plenty of time to order it from a provider or from your florist. They’ll need to have at least a few weeks’ notice as they’ll also need to order enough flowers to provide it.

4. Bring the guest book – and a few pens!

Don’t let the guest book become an afterthought. Yes, your guests will likely write some nice things in their cards, but most people don’t keep all their wedding cards. Having a guest book at your wedding is a great opportunity to keep a record of all those well wishes in one place. (Oh, and don’t forget the pens!)

5. Kit out the bathrooms

Adding a few essentials to the venue’s bathrooms gives the space a personal touch, as well as making a lovely little surprise for your guests. A handy little basket filled with goodies such as chewing gum, deodorant, hairspray, combs, hair clips, hand cream and other bits is the perfect way to refresh after a night on the dancefloor. If nothing else, you’ll appreciate not having to find your clutch bag as you head to the toilets to touch up your hair and make-up!

6. Pick your own props

Hiring a photo booth for the big day? Chances are, it’ll come with a selection of standard props for your guests to post with. But just in case it doesn’t, or if you’re got a specific theme or colour scheme in mind, grab a few of your own bits and pieces to make it your own.
