The Monsoon Accessorize Trust supports and empowers people from disadvantaged communities around the world. It helps drive sustainable change through a range of education, healthcare and income-generation projects.
We partner with Turquoise Mountain to provide pre-primary education and English classes to over 100 children across two villages in Bamiyan, Afghanistan.
As Bamiyan is home to a wide variety of artisan traditions (which hero women artisans), we have also launched a new Artisan Support Programme.
This means we can work with local embroiderers and craftspeople who make two pieces of traditional dress – the gand afghani and the barak – and support two existing Afghan Female Artisan Markets. This support empowers women to create an income and helps the local economy, too.
We are proud to help WaterHarvest provide water-irrigation supports to over 2,000 families in rural India.
Here, the access to water drastically increases the quality of life to people in the rural community and means women and children – who usually walk miles to fetch water – can instead focus on school or work.
We work with Prakratik Society to provide resources for the Environment Education Programme at Fateh Public School in Ranthambore, India.
20 years ago, the Trust funded the construction of a wing of the Fateh school. Today, we continue to support the school with an environmental programme that teaches students understand how to support their local biodiversity and respect the national forest, which is next door.
This year, the Trust and AASHIANA have collaborated to support HIV positive families by providing them with nutrition and educational support in Delhi.
We are also funding a 12-month programme to help women affected by HIV by training them to make jewellery for a living. This enables them to earn money and support their families.
Period poverty is one of the #1 issues affecting women around the world today. So, we’re funding our partner Jeevika to support the health of more than 5000 women in rural India.
Our donation will provide eco-disposable sanitary products to women and girls, reproductive-health education in local villages and training in the production of sanitary napkins – supporting a sustainable income for women in the community (and access to hygiene products).
All children should have the right to free, quality education. So, we funded a three-year project (from 2019-2022) to help 227 children from rag-picking communities in Delhi stay healthy – and in education. The money we donated helped:
In total, 192 children completed the government school system, which is an amazing achievement.
"I thank the Monsoon Accessorize Trust for their upliftment of underprivileged children, even after facing challenging times during COVID." Zsofi Preddle, Christian Aid
We’re proud of our previous work with Romil Sewa Sansa (formerly the Radico Welfare Centre). We supported them to give over 200 scholarships to world-class private schools to give young people in New Delhi access to better opportunities.
This year, for Breast Cancer Awareness Day, we partnered with Future Dreams. This fantastic charity in London was set up by a mother-and-daughter duo after they were both diagnosed – and exists to practically and emotionally support anyone undergoing treatment with virtual and in-person meets.
During the pandemic, we funded emergency relief through our partner, Goodweave, to provide access to essential COVID-relief packages and implement new Child Friendly Communities across Northern India to provide educational remediation programming and school enrolment assistance in rural communities.
We partnered with Turquoise Mountain to train over 150 artisans in the art and craft of jewellery making in Myanmar. We delivered highly skilled workshops, plus equipped artisans with the knowledge and skillset to learn a craft and secure a livelihood.
Within hours of the disaster, the Trust donated £100,000 to the survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in West London.
We donated to the DEC who worked with local partners on the ground when the first earthquake struck. Our funds helped people on both sides of the border, providing tents, warm clothes, heaters, hot meals, clean water and medical care.
Thank you for your interest – independent donations mean so much to us and the communities we support.
